Bill and I took the opportunity to get out on a lake that brings back a lot of good memories for me. We went out to Joyce Lake or "Green Lake" as I knew it growing up. We launched the boats and headed directly down the lake to the opposite end where we anchored up in about 10' of water and worked chironomids along the shore line. The fish were feeding on chironomids and we had the best luck fishing different patters such as chromies, anti-statics, steal greys and love bugs to name a few. we worked the patters about 3' under the indicators and kept them in tight along the shore lines. The fish seamed to be holding in about 5' of water and feeding aggressively on the chironomids that were hatching. Bill landed a fish that was over 17" and I have attached pictures of the one that I boated which was 16.5" but the majority of those fish were around 10" and full of fire! These fish come in side ways and leap out into the air with airiel manoeuvres that would have the Cirque du Soleil performers envious. The lake has a brown tinge to the normally green water due to the spring run off but that has not stopped the fish from taking a well presented chironomid pattern. I would recommend taking your kids, perhaps your wife or even good friend and get out to this wonderful little lake for some non stop action!
The fish here have vibrant colours down their sides, red fins with white tips and a light green back which make them quite pretty to look at and get some pictures of.
